Mr. Raymond J. Tippens of Lithonia died on Monday, July 13, 2009. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. Mr. Tippens was a DeKalb County Fireman and then was the owner - operator of a sheet metal company. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Tippens of Conyers; sisters, Martha Petrie of Marietta, GA, Margie Kelley and husband Jim of Saledo, TX, Helen Young and husband Bob of Oxford, GA; brothers, Jimmy Tippens and wife Annette of Whitesburg, GA, Roy Tippens and wife Sue, and Daniel Tippens and wife Theresa, all of Douglasville, GA. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and we will always remember his kind, compassionate spirit. A graveside service will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. Thursday. Dr. D. Perry Ginn will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
