Raymond L. Thomas, 86, died peacefully at his home in Decatur, Tuesday, June 26. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the European theater. He again served his country during the Korean War. He began his career with the Southern Railroad and continued his association with the railroad, and the coast guard as District Manager with McGraw Edison Company. He was an avid golfer and die hard University of Tennessee football fan, seeing his first game in 1938. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rena P. Thomas and his father, John A. Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bobbie W. Thomas, daughter, Lisa Ray Thomas of Lawrenceville, sister, Betty Childress, nephews, John and Mike Childress all of Knoxville, TN. A memorial service is scheduled for 6pm Saturday, June 30 at AS Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur. The family will receive friends from 5-6pm prior to the service. A.S.
