Mrs. Rebecca “Becky” Blankenship, 70, of Decatur died Wednesday, January 6, 2010. She was a very proud Decatur High School alumna, class of 1957. Mrs. Blankenship attended King College in Bristol, TN, majoring in English. After raising her family, she became very active in local arts, politics and community affairs. Becky was the Queen Mother of the Devilish Divas of DeKalb County of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed traveling with them. She was also an avid quilter. Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don Young. She is survived by her mother, June Blankenship; daughter, Suzanne Pharr; son, Bobby Pharr; step-daughters, Stephanie Young, Ginny Powell; beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Young, Meri Powell; brothers, Peter and Johnny Blankenship; sister, Jessica Arthur, nieces, Josie and Sadie Blankenship, Mary Arthur; nephews, Kevin, Keith and Luke Blankenship and Zachary Arthur. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 10 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort, Art Station in Stone Mountain, Callanwolde Art Center in Atlanta, Spruill Art Center in Dunwoody, or Wonderland Gardens in Decatur. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons
