Reuben C. Sherrill, 80, of Atlanta, Georgia died at Hospice Atlanta on January 20, 2005. Born on February 18, 1924 to the late Joseph Julius and Florence Thornton Sherrill in Bowdon, Georgia, he grew up on the family farm, graduated from the University of Georgia, was a WWII veteran, and taught On-The-Farm training courses as part of the GI Bill in Walton County (Monroe). He was employed by John Deere Company for 37 years and retired as Manager, Distribution for the Atlanta branch. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Holland Sherrill; and his sons, Clint Sherrill (wife Mary) of Charlottesville, VA and Clay Sherrill (wife Becky) of Bettendorf, IA. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Sherrill Gordon of Marietta, GA, Martha Sherrill Lyle of Bowdon, GA; brothers, Lewis W. Sherrill of Bowdon, GA, William A. Sherrill of Visalia, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren are Michael Sherrill of Richmond, VA; Meredith and Benjamin Sherrill of Bettendorf, IA; and Kyle and Maggie Sherrill of Charlottesville, VA. The memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Northeast Baptist Church, 4046 Chamblee-Tucker Road, Atlanta, GA 30340.
