Funeral services for Rev. Alton W. Hardy will be held Tuesday, August 24th at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Dewey Childers officiating. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery. Rev. Hardy, age 83, a longtime resident of Stone Mountain died Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was a retired Captain with the DeKalb County Fire Department. Rev. Hardy was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Louise Hardy who died on May 10, 2010. Surviving are his daughters, Darlene Carter, Sherlene Smith; son, Michael Hardy; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three nieces, Rita Christopher, Kathy Corley, and Denise Nicholson. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons, 404-292-1551.
