Rhoda Minnie Bushart, 86, of Clarkston, GA. quietly passed away while surrounded by her loved ones on February 16th, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband J. D. Bushart, Jr. her siblings Claude Sonny Griffith, Thomas Griffith, and Violet Weigel, her parents, Claude Russell Griffith and Violet Moore Griffith, her dear friend, Mary Mommy Mel Ramsey and by her grandson, Samuel Graves. She is survived by her five children, Carol Ann Iverson, Margie Graves, James Bushart, Janette Bushart, and Eric Bushart. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Rhoda met her husband J.D. at the age of 21 while roller skating. Legend has it that she skated passed him backwards and said, Catch up, slow poke. J.D. spent the rest of his life trying to keep up with her. Together they created a close knit and loving family that continually adopts in-laws and friends as their own. Rhoda loved dancing. She and J.D. were members of the Silver Stars Square Dancing Group for several years, touring and performing in square dance and round dance exhibitions. She also loved the beach, enjoying many family vacations showing off her enormous sun hats. Famous for creating her own vocabulary, if she didn't know or like a word, she took the initiative to make up a new one. Rhoda had a quick sense of humor and she loved to laugh and celebrate. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the chapel with interment to follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Bede's Episcopal Church 2601 Henderson Mill Rd Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30345. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
