Richard Clayton Morgan

Richard C Morgan was born October 12, 1932 in Decatur, Georgia, the youngest of the six children of Harry H. Morgan and Louise Geer Morgan. He grew up in Decatur and in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was still a boy when his siblings married and started families, Richard first became an Uncle at the age of 9 and watched the family grow during his teen years and military service as a young man. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force in Fort Worth, Texas from 1951-1953, performing work in logistics and supply.

Following his service, he attended Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee. Richard showed an early interest in technology with electronics and audio as a hobby. Family members remember his large classical music record collection, audio equipment, and construction of a shortwave radio.

He enjoyed owning and driving automobiles and took great pleasure in maintaining their performance and appearance. Richard was a frequent visitor with his brother and sister's families. He shared adventures and difficulties as an accomplished storyteller. His nieces and nephews remember Richard's visits, his new cars, and the joy and happiness he brought his sisters. Nora especially remembers fondly Richard's kindness and patience and acceptance of Jeff Geer, a nephew, who suffers from Williams syndrome, a developmental disease.

During his career, Richard held a number of different positions including concrete company dispatcher, encyclopedia salesman, and as a tax examiner with the United States Internal Revenue Service, retiring from that position in 1998. Richard met his wife, Linda, while working at the Southern College of Pharmacy in Atlanta while she was a student. They married in 1968 and lived in Snellville, GA for most of their lives.
He is survived by his daughters, Andrea Moody of Loganville, GA and Robin Patterson (Tyler) of Sandy Springs, GA. He was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren, Katelyn Moody, Logan Moody, Kaci Patterson, and Ian Patterson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He died on April 10, 2020 as the result of complications from Coronavirus. Due to the pandemic, a funeral service has not been scheduled at this time. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Greenback, TN.
