Richard Herbert Rhodes, Sr.

December 8, 1944 — June 4, 2007

Richard Herbert "Rusty" Rhodes, Sr., 62, businessman, professional photographer, registered real estate appraiser, and certified beekeeper died on June 4, 2007, of cancer at Hospice Atlanta. He was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church. Mr. Rhodes, a native of Macon, is survived by his wife Elma Lee McFall of Decatur; mother, Naomi Matthews Rhodes of Decatur; son, Richard Herbert Rhodes, Jr., of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Kourtney Rhodes Forster, of Atlanta; grandsons, Zachary Rhodes, Taylor Rhodes, and Greyson Forster; granddaughter, Avery Forster; nephews, Ronald Rhodes and William Rhodes; niece, Rhonda Rhodes Wallace; and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Boone Rhodes, Jr. and his brother Ronald Rhodes. The family will receive friends at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur on Thursday, June 7, 2007 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Requiem Mass will be at St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Dunwoody on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Rhodes' remains will be cremated and the cremains will be placed in the columbarium at St. Barnabas. After the service the family will receive friends in the parish hall. Mr. Rhodes graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Macon and the University of Georgia with a major in business administration after which he began a long career with Neptune Water Meter Company. He was owner of Astronaut Trampoline Company, was a medical photographer for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Decatur and Media Director for the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in Atlanta and Mercer University in Atlanta. He also was a real estate appraiser and beekeeper. Mr. Rhodes enjoyed photography, beekeeping, and horseback riding. Mr. Rhodes was a member of the Mens' Group at St. Barnabas.
