Richard L. Cofer

Richard Louie Cofer died Friday October 18, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was 84 years old, born in the Pea Ridge Community of Decatur, GA September 30, 1935 to the late Louie and Hazel Cofer. He went to Tucker High School and graduated in 1953.Richard dedicated his early life to building houses that led into a business of 20 years with his father and brother-in-law, LAR Associates. Later, he built his business from the ground up, Cofer Grading and Landscaping, LLC., that went strong for 20 years. He was a strong and proud patriarch, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of his family. Paw Paw enjoyed spending his days hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, along with spending all of his spare time with his beloved high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years. He loved and adored all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially with his presence at all their school and sporting events. He was a great friend to all and would give the shirt off his back if needed. He is loved very much and will be missed by many! Ronnie and grandson Dustin Cofer. He is survived by his wife Shirley (Maw Maw) Cofer, and their two sons and daughter; Coy and wife Kim, Keith and Vicky, Connie and husband Tim. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kara (Todd) Scott and their daughters Kyla and Blakely; Jeremy Cofer; Derek (Jessica) Cofer their sons Austin and Gavin; Brandie (Shawn) Croat and their son Nicholas; Brittany (Cameron) Brantley; Curt (Kayla) Frankenfield and their children James, Katelyn and Jace. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October23, 2019 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral Home. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA.
