Rita Marcella Wright, 96, passed away peacefully at Atria Tucker on Wednesday, 10/12/2016. Born in Triadelphia, W. VA on 6/21/1920 to Herman and Anna Wagner, she was fifth of fourteen children.
After graduating from nursing training at Wheeling Hospital, she served as a US Army surgical nurse during WWII. After her military service she began her long life as a loving wife, mother, grandparent, sister and friend. She lived her life as an example of love, respect and tolerance of others.
She is preceded in death by her husband David Wright, son Bobby Wright, and grandson Sean Wright.
She is survived by her four children, son Tom Wright and wife Sondra, daughter Patricia Wright Fleming, daughter Peggy Brodnax and husband Jim, son David Wright and wife Deborah, three grandchildren, Resa Matheny (David), Kimberly Stamps (Joel) and Eric Brodnax, four great grandchildren, Julie, Emily, Austin and Alex, sisters Angela Wagner and Marie Kennedy, brothers Jerry Wagner, John Wagner, and Charles Wagner.
Rita was a long time parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Atlanta and an active volunteer in Friends of St. Martin de Porres, a food pantry that feeds families in need.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Heart Association or any charity of the donor's choice.
A graveside service will be held on Friday 10/14/2016 at 11:00 am at Decatur Cemetery.
