Robert Asbury Dukes, age 82, died Wed. Sept. 17, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. He was born and raised in Decatur Ga. and graduated from Marist College H. S. and Auburn University. Mr. Dukes served in the Army Air Forces in WWII as a B-29 tail gunner and later served in the Air Force as a 1st Lt. in the late 50's through 1960. He taught Anthropology at University of the Americas in Mexico City. Through his work with CARE he traveled the world assisting those in need who suffered the effects of natural disasters. He was the youngest of five siblings; Clifton, James, Lilla Mae, and Francis and is survived by his brother Francis of Purceville, Va., 11 nieces and nephews as well as a host of lifelong friends. His body will be cremated and a memorial mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at a later date.
