Robert Coleman "Bob" Pitts, 94, of Atlanta, died September 21, 2013. A native of Thomaston, Georgia, Mr. Pitts was a member of the first graduating class of Southern Tech. He served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army Air Corps, and was discharged in 1946 as a aerial photographer and gunner. He later joined the U. S. Navy Reserves, where he served for five years, and was a long time member of the Avondale American Legion. He was a retired Loss Control Representative for Wausau Insurance Company, where he worked for over 25 years. Mr. Pitts is survived by his wife, Jean Latimer Pitts; daughter, Susan and Van Doesburg of Dalton; son, Rick and Carolyn Pitts of Marietta; grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah of Marietta; sisters, Wilma Hooper, Betty Ann Fordham, Virginia Lynch and her husband, Levann, all of Thomaston; sister-in-law, Barbara Latimer of Miami FL. The funeral service will be held at the graveside, 11:30 am, Wednesday, September 25, 2013, with military honors, at Georgia National Cemetery.
