Robert Daniel Murray, Jr.

February 9, 1940 — January 20, 2022

Robert Daniel (“Danny”) Murray Jr. passed away on January 20, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Daniel Murray Sr. and his grandson Robert Daniel (lil’ Rob) Murray IV. He is survived by his wife Janice Chaffin Murray; his five children Robert Daniel Murray III (Gabriel), Joseph Richard Murray Sr. (Rhonda), Rhonda Gail Strickland (Alan), Laura Bradford (Ken), Don Ward (Wendy); his grandchildren Heather Murray, John Barbie (Tabatha), Joseph Richard Murray Jr. (Hayli), Holly Rowe (Andrew), Zachary Murray, Beau Strickland (Brianne), Kala Lynch (Mike), Jason Bradford (Rochelle), Jessica Brooks (Chris), Audrey Weathers (Nathan); and his 13 great-grandchildren.

Danny was born in Waycross, Georgia, on February 9, 1940, to Robert Daniel Murray Sr. and Inez Bennett Murray. He graduated from Wacona High School in June of 1958. After serving in the United States Army for a few years, Danny furthered his education at Georgia Southern University and a BS in Education, two Masters degrees and was only a dissertation short if a Ph.D. in Education. Additionally, while at Georgia Southern Danny expanded his love of sports and became the assistant coach of the baseball team. He was the Assistant Principal at South Gwinnett high school from 1973 to 1978. In 1978, he began his highly accomplished career at A.L. Williams as a financial advisor. Danny always had a passion for wanting to help people become financially successful. As a by-product of his ever-ending passion, he was later promoted to Regional Vice President of A.L. Williams. He loved using a “coaching mentality” to help others gain financial freedom through his financial services.

In 1978, Danny accepted Christ as his lord and savior in Tucker, Georgia, at Rehoboth Baptist Church, where he attended for decades and lead bible studies. He loved working in the church. Those who know Danny best, know that you could find him at his computer every Sunday morning at 3 a.m., thoroughly writing his bible lesson for that Sunday’s class. In 1983, Danny had the honor of marrying Janice C. Ward. She was his rock, his everything, his beacon. Danny cherished every ounce of her, and she stood by Danny through sickness and health - until death do us part. The love Danny had for Janice was the epitome of a what Christ designed for marriage. They were happily married for thirty-nine wonderful years. Through the final few years of Danny’s sickness, Janice was with him at every appointment, and he loved, admired, and adored her because of her devotion to their marriage, to him, and their family. His fondest memories are the trips he took with her around the world with A.L. Williams and with his family to the Florida beaches. Danny cherished every moment he had with Janice, even up to his last minutes on this earth with her by his side.

Danny will be forever remembered as a man who exuberated love. There wasn’t a person who knew him that wasn’t considered a friend or a soul that met him that wasn’t forever changed. Danny permanently altered the lives of the many that were fortunate enough to know him and left an indelible mark on those who knew him best. Danny truly embodied the love “Christ had for the church” - in his marriage to Janice, with his family, and in his friendships. Danny will undoubtedly be missed, but the essence of his life lives on with us all.
