Robert Dennis Maynard, 67, of Decatur, Georgia, passed all too soon on March, 10, 2022. Robert was born in Huntington, West Virginia on February 4, 1955 to proud parents Robert Maynard and Virginia McDermott Maynard. Robert was the baby brother of 3 older sisters, a position he took full advantage of. Although born in West Virginia, Robert’s family moved to Tennessee when he was young, and he was raised in Knoxville, where he graduated from Farragut High School. Robert then attended Carson-Newman University where he earned a bachelor’s degree, and also played football during his tenure. After college, he moved to Atlanta to accept a position with Georgia Pacific. While in Atlanta, he continued with his love of sports by playing rugby with the Atlanta Renegades for 10 plus years.
In Atlanta one day, Robert decided to go to IHop, and that decision for breakfast would change his life forever. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dona Linda LeVorse. They married on August 18, 1988 and were married for almost 34 years. Together they traveled and had many fur babies. Robert especially enjoyed skiing and never met a stranger. Fun fact: Robert has been to every continent except Antarctica!
Robert was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by, his wife, Dona; his sisters: Rebecca Hutzell, Elizabeth Stalnaker, and Patricia Howard; numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or ASPCA.
