Hershel Salter died Saturday, September 4, 2010 at home from complications of metastatic cancer. He was 86 years old. Hershel graduated from Dublin High and attended National School of Business earning a degree in Junior Accounting. Hershel was a WWII Army veteran serving in New Guinea for 3 years. He continued his service to his country working with the VA hospital as a civil servant for over 38 years. On April 6, 1947 he married Madeline Davis from Dublin and they celebrated their 63rd weddinng anniversary this year. He was the youngest of and the last remaining of 9 children of Ellen Underwood and Willie Salter. He is survived by his wife Madeline Davis Salter of Tucker, his daughter Robin and son-in-law Mike Dooley and grandson Kevin of Lawton, OK, sister-in-law, Georgie Davis McClanahan of Tucker, brother-in-law Weldon Davis and his wife Anne of Rome, numerous nieces and nephews, and a large family here in Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. He always enjoyed life to the fullest, loved his family and friends and was just a very good man. Funeral services will be on the 8th of September at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church in Tucker. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
