Robert Leo Watson of Decatur, Georgia died on Wednesday October 25, 2017 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Teresa Ann Trollinger Watson. He is survived by three children, Mary Margaret “Peggy” Watson, David Leo Watson, Gregory Leo Watson. His loving partner of 21 years Jene Morgan. Five loving grandchildren, Austin Watson, Stephanie Watson, Natalie Watson, David Watson Jr., Sheldon “Bobby” Watson, and two great grandchildren, Emalee Watson and David Watson III.
Robert served in the US Navy between November 1944 and July 1946 on the USS Haywood and USS JP Kennedy in the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Liberation Theater.
He retired from Norfolk Southern Corporation on December 31, 1986 after more than 43 years of railroad service. His career began in Spencer, North Carolina in the Mechanical Department and was highlighted by working several positions at locations in Washington DC; Richmond, VA; Winston Salem, NC; Charlotte, NC; Chattanooga, TN; and Atlanta, GA.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday October 30, 2017 Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2855 Briarcliff Road, NE Atlanta, GA 30329. A prayer service will begin at 5:30 pm.
The time and place of service 11:00 AM Tuesday October 31, 2017, Funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2855 Briarcliff Road, NE Atlanta, GA 30329. His interment immediately following at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy. Snellville, GA 30039.
