Robert M. Gregory, Sr. of Atlanta passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the age of 91. He served his country during WW II in the 99th Division Artillery and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather with 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. His wife, of 61 years, Lula and his son Edmund preceded him in death. His son Robert and June Gregory of Atlanta, daughter Barbara and Joel Rountree of McDonough, daughter Mildred Shell of Chamblee and daughter Linda Smith of Lilburn Georgia survived him. He was beloved by many because of his kind and gentle ways. However, he was independent and fought a good fight until the end. He was a long-term active member of Northeast Baptist Church and enjoyed the camaraderie of the old men's breakfast club, when he was not a caretaker for others. A service to celebrate the life of Pop Gregory will be held at Northeast Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 1, at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Jim Nelson officiating. A reception will follow. The family will received friends Monday at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Crest Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, December 1 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Northeast Baptist Church. Condolences can be made at www.asturner.com http://www.asturner.com. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
