Robert Neil Purcell

Robert "Bob" Neil Purcell of Decatur, GA passed away on May 22, 2016 at the age of 83. Bob was born on September 8, 1932 in Savannah, GA to Benjamin Franklin Purcell and Rona Jane Holland Purcell. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1957 with a degree in accounting. After moving to Atlanta, GA, Bob worked for 38 years at the Atlanta Gas Light Company until retiring in 1995. In retirement, Bob enjoyed watching college football, gardening, and traveling. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harry Vernon Purcell and Howard Ellis Purcell. He is survived by his wife, Reba Sharp Purcell; son David Holland Purcell and wife Margaret; daughter Robin Purcell Koch and husband Paul; four granddaughters Megan Purcell Patton, Lauren Marie Purcell, Courtney Lynn Purcell, and Brittany Marie Koch; and brother Jerry Hanson Purcell. Visitation with his family will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons in Decatur, GA. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
