Robert Turner Earnhardt, Jr, (Bob), age 76, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2004 at the Hospice Atlanta Center. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 3, 1928, grew up there and graduated from Harding High School, Class of '46. He attended Brevard Junior College and graduated from the University of Tennessee where he majored in retailing, lettered in track and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He served his country in both the Navy and the Army. He was a buyer in the Junior Executive Training program at Rich's in Atlanta before moving to Charlotte to become men's clothing buyer for the Belk Home Office. He returned to Atlanta to become an account executive at Oxford Industries, Lanier Men's Clothing Division. He was a long time member of Druid Hills Golf Club (DHGC) where he served on the Board of Directors and later became President of the club. While at Druid Hills he co-founded the Wayne Reynolds Scholarship Foundation to assist junior golfers with college tuition and was instrumental in reinstating the Dogwood Invitational Amateur Golf Tournament. He was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church and the Progressive Men's Sunday School Class. He was survived by his wife, Kay S. Earnhardt, Atlanta; his son, Bobby Earnhardt and his wife Terri and their three sons, Robe, Stefan, and Dylan, Lilburn; his son Jeff Earnhardt and his wife, Marion and their daughter Kylie, Roswell; a sister, Faye Ivey, Monroe, NC; a brother, Rev. Boyce Earnhardt, Monroe, NC; and a sister, Barbara McCallum, Raleigh, NC. Dr. Thomas Ferrell will officiate at a celebration of Bob's life on Sunday December 19, 2004 at Briarlake Baptist Church, 3715 LaVista Drive, Decatur, GA. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, after which the family will welcome visitors at a reception in the church dining hall.
