Roberta Claire Edmundson Gorey

Roberta Claire Edmundson Gorey, 74, of Decatur, Georgia, died February 12, 2014. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, daughter of the late Stephen Grier and Mary McKenzie Edmundson.She was married to James Lawrence Gorey, Jr. for 38 years, who preceded her passing in May 2000. She attended Mt. Sterling High School and Saint Joseph's Nursing School in Lexington, Kentucky where she earned her BS in nursing, later working as a RN at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta .She was a member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur for 46 years. She is survived by four children, Kathryn Pike (Richard), James Gorey III, Maggie Chastain (Troy), Andrew Gorey (Jason). Five grandchildren Michelle, Blakely, and William Chastain, Collin and Sydney Gorey. Four siblings, Kae Werkhoven, Stephen and Mike Edmundson of Memphis, Tennessee and David Edmundson of Destin, Florida.
The Rosary will be said at 6:00pm on February 17, 2014 followed by visitation until 8:00pm at A.S. Turner and Sons in Decatur. A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church at 11:00am on February 18, 2014. Interment will be in Paris, Kentucky.
