Mr. Roger W. Parker, Sr., age 78, of Atlanta died Sunday, September 5, 2004. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Parker was a member of Peachtree Baptist Church and a member of the East Point Lodge #288 F&AM for 52 years. He was also a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple for 50 years, a member of the Shrine Motor Corps, and a member of the Board of Directors of Associated Grocers for 19 years. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie N. Parker of Atlanta; daughter, Elaine Bernard of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sons, Roger W. Parker, Jr. and his wife, Tricia of Monroe, GA, Mark A. Parker and his wife, Susie of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Sean Bernard, Louis Bernard, Kathryn Smith, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Trae Parker of Auburn, GA, David and Kristen Parker of Bethlehem, GA, Katie Parker of Monroe, GA, Allen Parker and Molly Parker, both of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Rev. Robert Walker and Dr. Norman Waldrip will officiate. Interment Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions to the Alzheimer?s Association, 1925 Century Blvd., N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
