Roger Williams Moore, 90, of Decatur GA passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of his family on February 10, 2021. Born May 3, 1930, in Gwinnett County, son of Holdman and Gladys Moore. Roger is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Jessie Ellis Moore.
A successful 52-year career in the automotive service industry, Roger excelled at various GMC and Ford dealerships as a master mechanic, parts manager, body shop manager and service manager. Roger had a great love and passion for working with wood. As a self-taught master wood craftsman, he designed and made fine furniture and wooden accessories in his modest home workshop.
Roger loved to travel with his family by car and RV. Covering most of the US and Canada, he was always excited to see what was around the next bend.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Jeanne Moore and sister, Jeanne Dalton. In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his brother, Ronnie Moore, sons: William Thomas Moore (Jane) and Roger Wayne Moore, grandchildren: Chadwick Moore (Regina), Roger Adam Moore, Bradly Moore (Jess), Mathew Moore, and Jacob Moore: 4 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews, a niece and many more loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on March 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm, with visitation starting at 1:00 pm, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Following the service, Roger will be laid to rest in Decatur Cemetery.
