Ronald Stephen Stewart

d. September 8, 2019

Ronald (Ronnie) Stephen Stewart, 68, of Jonesboro passed away on Sunday September 8, 2019 after struggling with cancer.

Ronnie was born in Atlanta to Norman E. and Beverlyn H. Stewart in early July of 1951. The second child born to this union, he had an older sister and he was the first male child. Later he was big brother to three brothers. Ronnie spent his early years in Atlanta near Ft. Mac and in East Point graduating from Russell High School in 1969. He lived with his parents and siblings in the Sandtown area of South Fulton County.

After graduating he attended Atlanta Area Tech receiving a certificate as an electronic technician. He was “old school” having learned to use a slide rule because calculators were new & expensive. His career was spent with electrical companies in the Atlanta area. He retired from R R Donnelley Printing Company.

Ronnie had a dry sense of humor, loved a good joke and loved to play jokes. Find peace in knowing that Ronnie is not gone, he’s just changed locations, gone to that happy hunting ground. He requests that everyone wear camo. You may not be seen, but we will know of your presence.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, Norman E. (NE) Stewart and his father in law, Tom Carden.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra (Sandy) Carden; daughter, Christy and Sean Wallace; son, Matt and Katie Stewart; both of Jackson, GA; mother, Beverlyn H. Stewart of Canton, GA; sister, Norma & Larry Ford of Evans, GA; brothers, Dean A. Stewart of Canton, GA; James K. & Rhonda Stewart of Loganville, GA and Tim Stewart of Roscoe, GA. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Rileigh, grandson, Danny and granddaughter, Aubrie and he felt lucky to be their Pappy. Also surviving are his mother in law, Ruth Carden; and his brothers in law, Wayne and Gary Carden and their families; Nieces, nephews, cousins, his deer camp families and by all his friends who survive him and mourn his loss. His four legged daughter, Judy Lynn was a faithful companion who brought him much joy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291 where he received outstanding care. Ronnie would also want you to “pay it forward”, remember the elderly, remember our veterans, help those in need, wear a smile, feed the homeless and be a friend to everyone.

A celebration of Life Service will be held in the chapel of Parrott Funeral Home a 4:00 pm on Saturday September 14th with Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. Private interment will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm prior to his services.
