Ronald Wayne Davis, aka Ronnie "The King" Davis, age 66, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 when he succumbed to his injuries sustained in a drag racing accident at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina. He was born on March 27, 1950 in Moundville, Alabama. He is survived by his two daughters, Bridget Medina and Michelle Seger, his long-time companion, Micki Dearing, his sister, Sara Grace Huff, his grandchildren, Lillie, Sam, Brandt and Catherine, his nephews, John and Tim Huff and Jason Richard and his niece Christie Carter. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Maggie Davis and his sister Dorothy Richard. In addition to a storied racing career that spanned more than a quarter century, Ronnie was the owner of Davis Golf Carts in Suwanee, Georgia. He was a five-time International Hot Rod Association world champion and the reigning Professional Drag Racing Association champion. Ronnie was a loving father, a fierce competitor, and a spirited and kind-hearted human being. He touched the lives of many during his life and his drag racing career. He will be missed. A funeral service will be held at A.S. Turner and Sons, 2773 Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033 on Tuesday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held the evening before on April 18 from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
