Roy Wesley Hazlerigs, who was known to family and friends as “Buddy, died Saturday, May 22, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of DeKalb County, Georgia and a graduate of Decatur High School class of ‘59. He served in the Georgia National Guard reserve for many years and was employed in the truck parts business in Atlanta and Doraville. Buddy was devoted to his family and his beloved Georgia Bulldogs, never missing a game until his health would no longer permit. He was an avid sportsman, and particularly loved to trout fish on the Chattahoochee River. Buddy was a student of local history, and an endless source of information on the North Georgia area, where he spent many weekends fishing the trout streams. Buddy was a brother who was deeply loved by his brothers and sisters, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by brother, Robert E. (Bobby) Hazlerigs of Clarkston; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Duggan Snipes; sister, Jean Hazlerigs Baldwin of Snellville; nephews and their families, Allan and Sherry Snipes of Snellville, Eric and Debra Snipes of Sugar Hill, Mark and Fiona Hill of Clarkston, Jason and Dusty Hill of Murrayville, Gregory Hill of Nunally, TN; and many great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 11:30 AM, Thursday, May 27, Rev. Seth Wortman of Mt. Carmel Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the service on Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
