Russell Walter Parris, 63, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 at his home in Atlanta, Georgia. Russell’s body could not endure the pancreatic cancer that had spread throughout his body and took his life after three short weeks from diagnosis. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of 35 years, his daughter Melissa Daniel and son-in-law Chris, and his son Alan and future daughter–in-law Alex. His three grandchildren Easton, Kolbe and Paxton Daniel, who call him by the name “Doe Da Da”, were a constant source of joy. He is also survived by his brother Tom Parris and sister-in-law Brenda, and many nieces and nephews. His niece Lauren Killion was like a second daughter to him. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom B. and Anne Parris, and sister Susie Killion. Russell received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mathematics and Information Systems from Georgia State University in 1981. He was self-employed writing iPhone software for a variety of companies. Family and friends will remember him most as a compassionate, and loving person who was devoted to his family and would unselfishly help anyone in need. He was often called for car advice since he had rebuilt his 1969 Porsche 911T twice. He was a passionate fan of auto racing and hockey. He loved hockey so much that he taught himself to skate in college and was instrumental in starting the Georgia State Hockey Team. His accomplishments are too long to list. His family would like to thank all of the people who not only loved him well but also prayed unceasingly during this tough time. Since Russell donated platelets several times a year, the family asks that in lieu of flowers you make donations in his name to the American Red Cross.
