Ruth McCrimmon Smith died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 after an illness of several years. The daughter of Hattie Lou Montgomery and George Washington McCrimmon, she was born in Lothair, Georgia in 1910 and graduated from Georgia State College for Women. She taught grammar school in several counties in the southern part of Georgia for several years, and for many years thereafter lived in Decatur, Georgia. She was a member of Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church. In 1986, she relocated to Kingsport, Tennessee to be close to her family, and spent many happy years there. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton P. (Red) Smith in 1960; brothers, Robert and Herbert McCrimmon; and sister, Irene Bush. She is survived her son, Glen C. Smith and daughter in-law, Peggy F. Smith of Kingsport, Tennessee; grandchildren, Meg Rosselot of Decatur, Georgia and Katie Davis of Baltimore, Maryland; and great grandchildren, Christopher and Clay Rosselot, and Carrie and Charley Davis. A graveside service will be held in the Decatur Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24th. The family will meet with friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, designated for "Research", be sent to the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Arrangements are being handled by A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home of Decatur, Georgia.
