Ruth Thomas Bishop

Mrs. Ruth T. Bishop, 92, a longtime resident of Avondale Estates died Sunday, March 30, 2008.  Mrs. Bishop was an avid gardener and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates.  Up until last year she remained active teaching Sunday school class, making ceramics, and knitting caps for local area women's shelters.  She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years Mr. Robert L. Bishop.  Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Gail B. Neal and Mr. Jack L. Neal, Jr. of Danville, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Mr. Robert Lee Bishop, Jr. and Mrs. Sara C. Bishop of Rockwall, TX; and grandchildren, Dr. Leigh E. Glerum and her husband Lt. Colonel Kyle A. Glerum, Mr. Barry Bishop, and Mr. William Bishop.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3rd at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates with the remains being placed in state at 10:00AM.  Burial Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00PM at A. S. Turner & Sons.
