Dear Family and friends,
It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our daughter, Sahar Isabelle Winkel, from complications of Tay-Sachs disease. For two beautiful years, she graced us with her smiles, tickled us with her wit, and sent our spirits soaring with her giggles. Even her scowls made us laugh. Her time with us was far too short, but the memories she gave us will last a lifetime. From the day she was born to her last breath, her strength and resilience were an inspiration. She gave us many gifts: she made us parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts. She gave us joy, strength, some heartbreak, but mostly unconditional love. We want to remember her fat cheeks, her irascible temper, and her flirtatious smile. She loved chocolate, her Feminist Baby book, bath time, and above all napping on our chests. These are the memories we will cherish forever.
To our dearest Sahi, you are perfect, and we will love you forever. Thank you for everything, and go make trouble in Heaven. We’ll send you kisses every day.
Love,
Siri and Dan (Mama and Daddy)
Tay Sachs is a cruel and unrelenting disease. We hope that one day a cure will be found and no one will ever again lose a child to it. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Association https://ntsad.org/donate
