Sam Honeycutt, 95 , of Atlanta , Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Halcyon Hospice in Dunwoody, Georgia.
Sam was a native of Wadesboro, North Carolina and retired as Credit Manager after forty years with Simmons Bedding Company. His parents were Roy and Allie Mae Honeycutt of Wadesboro, North Carolina.
Sam served in the Coast Guard and was a member of the V.F.W. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed traveling (especially visiting relatives), gardening, playing cards, and cooking.
Sam was pre-deceased by his wife of fifty-five years, Helen Newton Honeycutt and leaves behind his loving companion of nearly twenty years, Vera Brassfield.
He is survived by two sons, Sam Honeycutt Jr. and his wife, Linda and Harry Honeycutt and his wife, Kathy. Sam had four granddaughters, Teresa Chase, Stefanie Honeycutt, Amanda Ori, and Lindsay Wise. Sam was blessed with nine great grandchildren, Elizabeth Honeycutt, Casey Taber, Emily Taber, Brandon Honeycutt, Raven Honeycutt, Leo Ori, Ava Ori, Ben Wise, and Olivia Wise and his great great grandson Cameron Chase, three brothers and one sister, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Our goodbyes and memory sharing will take place at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, located at 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia 30033.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 30, from 6-8:30 pm and a Chapel service will be held Wednesday, August 31 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens immediately following the chapel service.
