Sandra Ruth Turpin, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Sandra was born in Memphis, TN on Dec. 30,1944 to Duward and Ruth Jaeger Turpin. They moved to Atlanta when she was eight years old but she loved Atlanta and considered it her home. Sandra graduated from Sylvan Hills High School, attended Georgia State, and graduated from Greenleaf School of Business with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. She was employed by Georgia Power, but retired from Rich’s after 25 years in Corporate Human Resources. She made lifelong friendships at Rich’s. She enjoyed getting together with her high school friends at the Varsity. Some she had known since elementary school. Sandra had many and varied interests to keep her busy. She was a huge Elvis Presley fan and had a large collection of his memorabilia. She loved history and enjoyed reading historical novels and visiting historic places. This led her into eight years of research of her families. She was amazed at what she found. She leaves her wonderful sister, Sara Turpin; and her cousins, Carol Sullivan Rudigier (Brien), David Sullivan (Nancy), Mary Turpin McPherson and Greg Turpin. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Greg Tallant officiating. She will be laid to rest privately at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 4th from 4 to 7 pm at A. S. Turner Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
