Sara E. Chapman

Sara E. (Moore) Chapman, age 93, formerly of DeKalb County, GA passed away peacefully on April 4, 2013. She was born in Sharpsburg, GA on April 17, 1919 to Charles H. and Eleanor (Pitts) Moore. Sara lost her parents at a young age and was raised by extended family. She was a graduate of Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in 1942 where she received her RN Degree. She paid her own way through nursing school by packing peaches.She married Aurelius Talton A.T. Chapman on March 2, 1952 in the First Baptist Church of Atlanta and he passed away on January 2, 1996. Her nursing career started at Georgia Baptist as a private duty nurse. In her later years Sara was employed by Western Electric as a Corporate Nurse for 30 years until retirement in 1978. She was a long time member of Briarcliff Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Atlanta Chapter #57, Worthy Matron and was Mother Advisor for the Order of Rainbow Girls, Atlanta Assembly #5.Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Lahman Moore, Charlie and Judy Moore, Marsha and Jimmy Eiland, all from Newnan, GA; Robin and Lamar Putnam, Carrollton, GA, Michael and Pam Moore, Ft. Worth, TX, Leon Moore, Mansfield, TX and a host of great nieces and nephews. Various members of the Chapman family. She was preceded by her brothers, Charles E. Woody Moore of Newnan and W.L. Moore, Ft. Worth, TX. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 12:30 PM in the chapel of A.S. Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Sally Webster and Rev. Guy Kent officiating. Interment will be held at Westview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:30 until the service time. A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
