Sara Mitchell Roberts-McDaniel,
84, of Decatur, died Monday, Oct
8, 2012. Sara was born in
Monroe, Georgia on June 1, 1928,
to John Wesley Mitchell and Alice
Faye Adcock. Sara moved to
Atlanta when she was twelve, and
was a graduate of Commercial
High School, where she became a
proficient typist, stenographer,
and use of the lost art of short
hand. Her graduating class also
named her "Most Witty". Sara
worked and retired from the
Federal Government after 33
years. Most of her service was
spent at CDC. Sara then took a
job with Wesley Woods in
various positions, until she
finally retired at the age of 79.
Sara was an active member of
Scott Blvd Baptist Church for
over thirty years, where she
served on numerous committees.
Sara and her first husband were
actively involved with the Civitan
organization, and won the honor
of "Family of the Year", for
Civltan International In 1969.
Her father, mother, sister and
husbands' John Cecil Roberts,
and W. Lamar McDaniel precede
Sara In death. Sara was beloved
by her children, son and
daughter-in-law, David and
Joanne Patricia Roberts; and her
daughter and son-in-law
Charlene and Dick Ashe. Sara
had four beautiful, talented
grandchildren, Beverly Reite,
Davin Roberts, Jeremy and
Mitchell Jones, six great
grandchildren, and one great-
great grandchild. Their "Mimi's"
advice and wisdom will be
missed. A celebration service of
her life will be held on Saturday,
October 13th, at 11:00 AM, in the
chapel at A.S. Turner and Sons,
Rev. Greg Smith and Dr. David
Roberts officiating. The family
will receive friends on Friday
October 12th, from 5:00- 8:00 pm
and again on Saturday 1 hour
prior to the service. Interment
will follow at Floral Hills
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the
family request that donations be
made to The American Lung
Association.
