She also enjoyed painting and creating her own greeting cards for family and friends. After retirement, she and Frank began to travel extensively. Sara became a volunteer travel coordinator and organized trips all over the world for church groups at Avondale Estates First Baptist Church, and later for Mountain Park First Baptist Church. Sara is survived by her loving husband J. Frank Payne, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law Joseph F. Payne, Jr. and Deanna; two granddaughters and their husbands, Rhiana and Gary Pfaff, Kate and Gabe Katz; two great-granddaughters, Gracie Pfaff and Clover Pfaff; niece and nephew-in-law Sandra and Julian Harper; and great niece Chelly Allen, her husband Brad, and their daughters Avery and Reese.
