Mrs. Sarah Alice Shaw, 89, of Avondale Estates died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 after a short illness. She was born in Bishop, GA in Oconnee Co. on August 27, 1919 to Newton J. and Lillie Jane Scoggins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Waymon Ray Shaw, an infant daughter, Sandra Kay Shaw, five brothers, and five sisters. She leaves behind her children, Waymon E. Shaw and wife Margaret of Decatur, James R. Shaw and wife Camille of Conyers, Dianne Shaw Wallace and husband Larry of Lawrenceville, Terry W. Shaw and wife Nancy of Avondale Estates, David L. Shaw of Avondale Estates; and one sister, Melba Ewing of Decatur, who will cherish her memory. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Mrs. Shaw was of the Baptist faith. She loved to sing, laugh and dance with her senior group and especially loved to play the game of Aggravation with her family. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 14th with Rev. Herbert Woodyard officiating. Burial will follow in Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
