Mrs. Sarah Lucile Riddle Brown, age 95, of Decatur was promoted to glory on Wednesday, September 22, 2004. She was born on July 17, 1909 in Jester, AL. Mrs. Brown was raised in Valley, AL and LaGrange, GA. She graduated from The Salvation Army Training College in Atlanta in the Torch Bearer?s session in 1929. She was married to Raymond D. Brown in 1931. They were Salvation Army officers for 30 years and were stationed in several cities throughout the south. While an officer, she visited patients in hospitals in Washington, DC, and Grady Memorial in Atlanta on a weekly basis to give a caring greeting and a War Cry. Mrs. Brown cared for Jeanne Bentley and Walter Gibson, who both became dear family friends. She has remained faithful to The Salvation Army. She is survived by four children, Ron D. Brown of Senoia, GA, Raymond Stanley Brown of Marietta, GA, Mrs. Barbara L. Peeler of Decatur, GA, and Larry W. Brown of LaGrange, GA.; She is also survived by nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph Riddle of Valley, AL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 24th at the Salvation Army Temple Corps at 2090 N. Druid Hills Rd. (next to NE (85) expressway. Major Allan Hofer and Major Howard Lynch will officiate. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home.
