Sarah Elizabeth Burdette

Sarah Elizabeth Cronan Burdette passed from this life on March 3, 2011, from pancreatic cancer. She'll join her husband, James Oscar Burdette, Sr. who died in September, 2002 after over 50 years of marriage. She is survived by her sister Hazel Beasley of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her six children, Donna Saralyn Gentes and her husband lee of Acworth, GA, Laura Ann Phillips and her husband Tom of Bridgeport, WV, Barbara Elaine Thompson and her husband Jeff of The Dalles, OR, James Oscar Burdette, Jr. of Ellenwood, GA, Melanie Faye Nittolo of Stockbridge, GA and Angela Kaye Rakestraw of Ellenwood, GA, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Earl Tate and Effie Alexander Cronan, her brothers Lawton Earl Cronan and his wife Mary Anderson Cronan, Alvin Cronan, Alton Cronan and his wife Miriam, her sisters Ruth Cronan Kirby and her husband Marion l. Kirby and Muriel Effie Cronan Tribble and her husband Preston Tribble. Sarah grew up in Decatur where she attended Decatur Heights Baptist Church. She worked at the National Service Industries and retired from The Atlanta Army Depot at Fort Gillem. She will be missed by the many dear friends she made as a longtime resident in Hapeville and Ellenwood, Georgia and her large family. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 6th at 2:30 pm in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Alan Smith officiating. Following the service, the burial will be at Melwood Cemetery. The viewing will be held on Saturday, March 5, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m at A. S. Turner & Sons.
