Sarah Guice Carter of Lilburn died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. She was born November 7, 1919 in Bremen, Georgia where she graduated from Bremen High School. Sarah attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and later worked for Hubbard Pants Company, the Board of Pardon and Paroles for the State of Georgia, and the General Services Administration. A veteran of World War II, she served with the army at Wakeman General Hospital in Indiana. She was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was in the Fellowship Class. An active participant in her Decatur community for many years, she served as a Girl Scout leader, Civil Defense coordinator, garden club president and in PTA and church committees. The majority of her life she was a homemaker, making a loving and happy home for her family. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ernest Eugene Carter; two daughters, Patricia Carter Post of Lilburn and Barbara Carter of Tucker; son-in-law John P. Post; grandchildren, Kristin Patterson Edmunds and her husband Tim Edmunds, John P. Post, Jr., Melinda J. Post, and Kyle Carter Post; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Edmunds; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Decatur First United Methodist Church at 300 E. Ponce de Leon Ave. Dr. David Naglee and Bishop L. Bevel Jones will be officiating. Interment will be at Decatur Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at A.S Turner and Sons, 2773 N.
