Sarah Jane McKelvy Smith passed away on March 3, 2009. Sarah Jane was born on April 4, 1924 in Columbus, Georgia and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville and Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee where she was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority and alumni. She and her husband, George, relocated to Atlanta in 1964 where they raised their two daughters and resided for the next 45 years. She was very active in the Episcopal Church Women at Holy Trinity Parish in Decatur. She loved to entertain, travel and look for that perfect antique. She had a passion for writing letters and talking politics. Sarah Jane will be truly and profoundly missed by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, George H. Smith; her children, Jane Smith Trantham and husband, Joe, of Panama City and Ann Howard Smith and husband, Scott, of Atlanta; and her grandchildren, Katherine Trantham of Montgomery and Caroline Trantham of Pensacola. Her memory is treasured by those fortunate to have been touched by her rich and generous life. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Saturday March 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 515 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, Georgia. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Ball, Ed Butler, Joe Foley, Jim Kelly, John Madajewski, and David Warfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Parish. A. S.
