Sarah Sims Faw of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully February 24, 2008. Mrs. Faw was born January 22, 1923, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Dr. Marshall Redding Sims and Cornelia Stephenson Sims. She attended Girls High School in Atlanta and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. She later graduated from Oglethrope University in Atlanta. She was married to Elwyn Veazey Hopkins in April 1942. She was a homemaker and teacher in the Atlanta area for many years while raising her family. She was an active member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. A later marriage to James Enoch Faw took her to Marathon, Florida, where she pursued her passion for gardening as the president of the Marathon Garden Club for several years. She is survived by her daughter: Marsha Hopkins Monarchik of Roswell, Georgia; her son: Elwyn (Rae) Hopkins of Carmel, Indiana; four grandchildren: Ed (Colleen) Monarchik of Dunwoody, Susannah Monarchik of Atlanta, Dana (Mark) Bina of Chicago, and Megan Hopkins of Los Angeles; great grandchildren: John, Sarah, and Matthew Monarchik of Atlanta. A memorial service in celebration of the life of Sarah Sims Faw will take place on Tuesday February 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, 3180 Peachtree Rd. N.E., Atlanta, GA. 30305. The family will receive guests in the Hospitality Suite immediately following the service.
