Scarlett Cox Bartlett was born in Griffin Georgia on April 6, 1949. She passed away on August 20, 2011 from complications related to kidney disease. Surviving Mrs. Bartlett is her husband of 37 years, Blair Bartlett; her daughters, Michelle Bartlett Wood, Heather Platt, and Jennifer Bartlett; her grandchildren, Ryan Wood, Alyssa Wood, Caleb Platt, Joshua Platt and Mara Ruth Platt; her mother, Fannie Bell Cox; sister, Syble Cox; brothers, Gilbert Cox and Buddy Cox. Mrs. Bartlett was an active member of Briarlake Baptist Church located in Decatur and was also a volunteer for DeKalb Medical Center and Emory Hospital working with newborn babies. She was unconditionally devoted to her children, grandchildren and family providing each with love, compassion and understanding for the many trials and tribulations of life. Mrs. Bartlett was a devoted Christian having recently reaffirmed belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by being baptized at Briarlake Baptist Church in June of 2011 with the ceremonies being conducted by her beloved son-in-law, Dr. David Platt, Senior Pastor for the Church at Brookhills in Birmingham, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in her name to Briarlake Baptist Church World Missions program. World evangelism was something she deeply believed in and something she was looking forward to being a part of via mission trips coordinated by the church. Funeral services will be held at the Briarlake Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10:00 am with interment to follow in Floral Hills Cemetery.
