Sharon Pirkle Price, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and a close family friend on December 7, 2022, in Atlanta, GA.
Sharon was born in Decatur, GA on November 12, 1946, to the late Jack and Edna Pirkle. She attended Druid Hills High School and was a member of the Oakhurst Baptist Church for most of her formative years and this is where several lifelong friendships were developed. She graduated from Mercer University with a degree in Liberal Arts. Following University, Sharon worked for a short time as an assistant for a Financial Investment Firm, where she met her husband, Rod Price. They were married on April 7, 1973. In 1978, Sharon and her father founded Briarcliff Frame Shop in the Druid Hills area of Atlanta. Following her father’s passing, just a few years after starting the business, Sharon assumed ownership and ran the business until 2019, when she retired. The business still operates as a family run business and is now in its 45th year. One of her many accomplishments was completing three marathons - the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC, the first annual Rock n Roll Marathon in San Diego and the Paris Marathon in Paris, France. She was always a runner, but what’s amazing is that she discovered this passion for pushing her limits at the age of 50!
Sharon is remembered fondly as a loyal friend who always stood ready to help and a loving wife for 49 years. Their relationship was one of storybooks, with an endless love and devotion to each other. Just days before her passing, a joint birthday celebration was held and the outpouring of love from friends that she had known since age four up to the present was a true testament to her character. She had a quick wit and stood strong in her beliefs. She was an incredible mom to her four fur-babies that were rarely not by her side and was known to rescue a bird or two or thirty. If you ever visited the frame shop while she was working, you know. Although her memory slowly faded away, she will live on in the hearts and minds of all those that were blessed enough to have gotten to know her and love her.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Rodney B. Price; her stepdaughter Pam Price; her granddaughter, Krista Price; her brother Brant Pirkle and wife Meg; her nephew Jack and niece Rebecca.
A memorial celebration will be held in January 20, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Dunwoody, GA, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions in Sharon’s name may be made to PAWS Atlanta or the Atlanta Humane Society.
