Saturday June 19th, we lost Shaun Wayne Spivey at the age of 41. Our lives will never be the same. Everyone knew him as a son that his parents were always proud of. He was an affectionate grandson and a protective brother to Stephanie, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Kathryn. Shaun was a strong and loving husband to Dawn; one that is best described with the lyrics of “Endless Love.” He was a truly devoted father to JR and Savannah, his pride and joy, Shaun was a favored son-in-law and brother-in-law. He was the greatest uncle to his nieces and nephews, and he was highly adored by his aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shaun loved all of his coworkers as family. He was a hard working and driven employee of Metro Waterproofing from the age of 18. Many at Metro knew him well before his career began. He was often seen alongside his dad almost from the moment he was born. Shaun’s thirst for knowledge drove him to learn new skills with excellence.
He was extremely compassionate and quick to forgive. He greeted everyone with a smile and would have anyone laughing before long. If Shaun was present in any room, he soon filled it with laughter, and he laughed the loudest at himself. Everyone wanted to sit next to Shaun in hopes of catching the next witty and hysterical comment.
Shaun was also known to share his knowledge. As he once told his son JR, “Life is like a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t fix the bad, but the bad things don’t spoil the good and make them unimportant.” JR will tell you that his father definitely added to everyone’s pile of good things.
Shaun would want us to know, without a doubt, that he loved each and every one of us wholeheartedly, just as we are. Thank you, Shaun, for adding so much to our pile of good things.
