Shirley Jean Rusk

Shirley Jean Rusk, age 58, passed in Decatur, Georgia, on November 13, 2018. Shirley was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 8, 1960 to her proud parents, Edward L. George, Sr. and Norma Jean Burnette George. Shirley grew up in the Atlanta area and eventually settled down in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She met the love of her life, Mark. Together they became a family and welcomed two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Kathryn.
Shirley loved to take walks on the beach, and look for shells to add to her collection. She loved taking pictures, and capturing the moment. When you needed a fix for your sweet-tooth, her German chocolate cake would hit the spot. And if you ever need an honest opinion, you only asked her if you wanted to know the truth. She loved her dogs and made them members of her family, too. Her love for kids was obvious in the way she took pride in her daycare work. Her booming laughter filled any room as much as her smile did.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean George, and her brother, Edward L. George, Jr. She is survived by her father, Edward L. George, Sr.; her loving husband, Mark Rusk; her daughters: Jennifer Rusk and Kathryn Rusk; and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, Georgia, and a funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at 1:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
