Simon Bolivar Hamlet

October 1, 1925 — March 1, 2017

Simon Bolivar "Ham" Hamlet, 91 went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2017 following a brief illness. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was a graduate of Russell High School. He was predeceased by his parents, Lela Willbanks Hamlet and Simon Bolivar Hamlet. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Laura Hamlet of Spartanburg, S.C; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Hamlet Carswell and Kenneth Carswell of Jesup, Ga; a sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Fred Hatterick of Marietta, Ga; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four on earth, one in Heaven and a niece and a nephew. "Ham" was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A member of Mount Carmel Christian Church for 48 years, he was committed to the Lord and the work of his church. He worked tirelessly touching the lives of many people through his personal involvement and visitation ministry.
A service of celebration will be held on March 4, 2017, at 11:00 am at Mount Carmel Christian Church, 6015 Old Stone Mountain Rd, Stone Mountain, Georgia, with Dr. Mike Hamlet officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens at 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Christian Church. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory
