Spero Gus Cassandras of Atlanta, Georgia, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Uni Health Nursing Home. Born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 27, 1922 to Greek immigrant parents, Gus and Katerina Cassandras, Spero served in the US Army during World War II as a Private from 1942 to 1945. He was one of 6 children born to Gus and Katerina. His true love in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Christo, who was the apple of his eye. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather who was devoted to his family. Spero is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen, his daughter Vickie, his son Kosta, son-in-law Randall Kindred and grandson, Christo. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Atlanta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in his memory. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM and a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons.
