\par It is with sadness our family announces the passing of Stanislaw Theodore Gorka, 80, of Decatur, Ga. on February 1, 2008. He was born in Tower Hill, Pa., He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Barbara L. Gorka. Mr. Gorka is survived by his friend, Irene Ann Sprague of Decatur; children, Elizabeth Gorka of Auburn, Al., Victoria Gorka of Pompano Beach, Fl., Stan and Linda Gorka of Lawrenceville, Teresa Gorka-Hawkins of Auburn, Al., Brenda L. and Walter Airich of Roswell, Barbara L. Gorka of Maysville, Ga.; grandchildren, Brad and Erin Gorka, Andre and Jordan Airich, Christopher J. Hawkins; and sisters, Edith Horvath of Republic, Pa., Florence Wyda of Adah, Pa. and Tillie Stance of Hopwood, Pa. Mr. Gorka was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and retired after twenty six years as a Georgia Tech Police Officer. He was a committed, passionate and tireless father, who leaves a legacy of his smile and the love he freely shared with all he knew and cared for. The family extends thanks to the staff of Emory University Hospital/Clinics, A. G. Rhodes Rehab, Vista Care Hospice at Budd Terrace, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church parishioners and Usher Team where he was a member since 1978. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 3, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Rd, Decatur, Ga. The Requiem Mass will be recited on Monday, February 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 2855 Briarcliff Rd., NE, Atlanta, Ga. by Father Schillinger. In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family in his daughters care, the American Lung Association or to Vista Care Hospice, 400 Franklin Rd., Suite 200 Marietta, Ga. 30067. A. S.
