Stephen Joseph Malloy, age 64, died Thursday, December 12, 2013, surrounded by family at Emory University Hospital. Steve was a mighty force in life, so we know he is now a shining star in Heaven. Steve loved his house on Lake Harding, summers in Cape Cod, with his Massachusetts relatives (especially Uncle Buddy), his students at Beulah High School, playing golf, all his friends from Florida to Washington State, taking his "adopted" children, Cory and Lexy, to see the Christmas lights at Calloway Gardens, Destin, Florida, Jimmy Buffet, books and movies about World War II, cooking his famous "Irish chicken, the Georgia Bulldogs and making anyone laugh. But, mostly Steve loved his mom, and all of his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He always put the needs of his family first, and acted as "dad" to each and every one of them. Steve was a graduate of Sandy Springs High School and Georgia State University and a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was honored to have served his country for seven years in the National Guard. He was a 30+ year employee at GMAC. After he retired, he became a substitute teacher at Beulah High School. Steve was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Lanett, Alabama. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Malloy, and survived by his mother, Betty Malloy; brothers, Brian, David, and Jay Malloy; sisters, Jane and Pat Malloy; his nieces, Ann and Mattie Malloy and his nephews, Jon and Jim Malloy. After the Memorial Mass, a remembrance will follow at 2pm at Meehan's Public House, 227 Sandy Springs Place. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
