Stephen Paul Czarnecki

Stephen Paul Czarnecki, age 70, of Decatur, Georgia, passed away on May 14, 2016. He was born November 21, 1945 in Buffalo, New York to Stephen J. and Helen (Adamski) Czarnecki. He attended Our Lady Help of Christians Elementary school and was a longtime altar boy and later primary organist for Sunday Masses. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and joined the Air Force in 1964. Stephen was honorably discharged in 1968, having earned the rank of Sargent. He later went on to earn his Associates Degree in business, from Bryant & Stratton College.

On May 15, 2014, Stephen married Thomas Barr in Niagara Falls, New York, after being together for 23 years. They met in Buffalo, New York and soon moved to Decatur, Georgia where they spent 25 years making new friends and living without snow.

Stephen spent over forty years in the music industry, where he was known as a talented pianist and accomplished negotiator. Early on, he won a car for salesman of the year, which fueled his love of sales that continued throughout his career.

In addition to his work, Stephen had a passion for cooking and travel. He loved hosting large dinner parties and would often invite friends, family and neighbors to join in the camaraderie. His generosity was well known and invitations were eagerly accepted. His many travels around the world were often done by cruise ship, which was his favorite way to tour, as documented by the numerous pictures throughout his home. Favorite destinations included Rome, Egypt, Australia and Norway.

He is survived by his husband, Thomas Barr of Decatur, GA, a sister Frances Egan of Buffalo, NY, a brother David Czarnecki, of Silver Springs, MD, and numerous close friends.

Stephen is preceded in death by his father, Stephen J. Czarnecki, mother Helen Czarnecki, brother James Czarnecki and his beloved Lakeland Terrier, Chipper.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 14th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, GA, 30033.
