Steven Lloyd Head of Roswell passed away September 21 due to complications from heart surgery.
Steve was born July 15, 1953 in Atlanta to Jeanne Stokes Head and Reuben Pierce Head. He was raised in the Decatur/Emory area and graduated from Druid Hills High School in 1971. He received his B.A. from Emory University in 1975 where he was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He went on to earn a J.D. from Emory University School of Law. His legal career was devoted to litigation of risk insurance matters as a founding partner with the firm Richter, Head, Shinall, and White. He especially enjoyed serving as an appointed member of the Advisory Council of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation since 2005. He was also past Chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Steve is predeceased by his parents as well as seven beloved canine companions. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ellen Cottraux Head. Their marriage was a source of joy and comfort and was an example of a truly loving partnership. Steve is also survived by his brother David Head, sister Mary Rogers and brother in law Earl Rogers, numerous special nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family requests no flowers, but rather contributions to the American Heart Association, the Atlanta Humane Society, or a charity of choice.
